Why quitting job articles are so popular?

We often see people posting about quitting their job; I mean including all blogs and not just dev.to. And somehow, they manage to attract a lot of attention. What are your thoughts on this topic?
Is it like most people hate their job but don't have the courage to leave it so they seek inspiration in such blogs or something else?
Let us know know your thoughts on this. Let's have a meaningful discussion on this topic.

Great observation and interesting discussion topic!

You're right that this topic seems to be quite popular.

I think a big part of it is that folks are regularly weighing their career options and appreciate comparing what they're doing to others out there.

By reading someone's post on quitting a job, they can gather together some of the drawbacks that the quitting person had with their job and then take a critical look at their own job to see if they're facing these same drawbacks. Maybe they had never considered these drawbacks or had never really put words to them; I think in this way, reading an article like this can be a real epiphany.

But to your point:

Is it like most people hate their job but don't have the courage to leave it so they seek inspiration in such blogs or something else?

I do think there is something to this too! Folks who dream of leaving their own jobs probably enjoy reading these posts because it allows them to step into the shoes of someone who is quitting their job and experience it vicariously. Maybe they're looking for inspiration to leave their own job... or maybe they're kinda living out their fantasy of quitting their job via someone else. 😅

That's why discussions are always good. Your part opened a new perspective for me on this.

Also

or maybe they're kinda living out their fantasy of quitting their job via someone else.

This is a solid point 😅.
A guy once told me, People love to watch places that they cannot reach. That was on the traveling aspect, but I truly felt that here.

It's more interesting than "yay I got hired". We all know why you got hired at something, but it's a more engaging story to share why you quit something.

Yes, because every job quitting blog post comes with unique stories. Thanks for pointing this out!

Well... Most people have a job. Not everything in software applies to most people, but the subject matter itself is just inherently broad.

A lot of people are afraid of doing the step and leave their current job. Whatever their reasons to leave are. These posts shed light into the darkness that lingers before them.
