Day 1

Hello, everyone! I'm new to dev.to, so for this first post, I will be talking a little bit about who I am and how I got here. This won't be the norm; this is just for me to test this out and make sure people are able to read this, nor will this be very in-depth. I intend to use this blog to talk about my progress as a software developer and my thinking process through my projects. I also want to ask y'all any questions I may have. My goal is to make one post a day, or at least after every time I touch a project.

Throughout my academic career, I've always been a bright student. I got straight As in all my classes and in high school, I kept that up on top of taking loads of AP classes to prepare me for university. I graduated as salutatorian of my class.

After high school, I started an undergraduate degree as a psychology major. In one year, I changed my major to biology. In my last year of my undergraduate degree, I took two freshman programming courses so that I could be accepted into a master's program for computer science. This is because I realized too late that I wanted to develop software. The courses taught me Python, Java and C++. I graduated from university with a BS in Biology and minor in psychology. My academic career lasted from fall 2015 until spring 2018.

After my undergraduate degree, I got accepted into a MS in Computer Science and took applying to jobs more seriously. I was mainly looking for software development internships. I still haven't found one, but I have found a better paying job that will offer me more hours so I can afford my master's.

Fast forward to now. I am actively looking for software development internships. I will use this blog to motivate me to stick my projects and make sure they get finished. I am hard at work studying for my master's and making sure I finish on time by spring 2020.

So that's a little bit about me. From now on, I plan to discuss about my projects and ask software-related questions. I've lost all my projects from high school, which included a chess and checkers game, so I'm starting from scratch. I was working on a calculator program a few months ago but stopped. I plan to revisit that program and finish it. In my next post, I will talk about what I remembered about my progress in the program and any challenges I've faced. I will try to work on the program, but my main goal will be to discuss what I've done so far. On my third post is when I'll discuss my progress on my project.

Another project I started recently is with these people I met on freeCodeCamp's Facebook group. The project will aim to make a site where people can post stuff they don't want and exchange it with other people. It's like a garage sale between other garage sales. The project hasn't kicked off ground yet, but I will keep y'all posted when things start shaping up.

If you guys have any advice for an aspiring software developer, please let me know.

Thank you guys for listening to this post! See you next time!

Hi, Md! If you have any advice for my posts, just let me know, buddy! I'm making it a goal to do something software related every day, so hopefully this blog keeps me on track with my projects so I actually finish them and start new ones. It's already proven useful in my following post where I talk out my calculator project. Thanks for recommending this!
