Hi friends - I've been writing a series of blog tutorials on SQL using examples from the field of astronomy. If you are new to learning SQL -- take a look!
- Black Holes, Planets, and SQL [link here]
- Touring the Solar System with SQL [link here]
- Searching for Moons with SQL [link here]
What topics would you like me to cover in future posts?

Hi Karen, welcome to Dev and the Data Community :)
We encourage the entire article to be published on DEV.to (if you have proper rights), with a linkback if appropriate. From the Terms of Use:
Additionally, posts must contain substantial content — they may not merely reference an external link that contains the full post. Posts that are simply intended to encourage readers to view an external resource are discouraged.
Thank you!
Thanks for letting me know! I have chosen to publish these articles on Medium (instead of Dev) because it is easier to format. I have to say -- I just wanted to share the articles so they might be helpful to anyone struggling with learning SQL.
Question - can we only provide formatting via markdown on Dev, or is there some other method that I haven't discovered?
Really nice articles. I went and gave them some claps 👏👏👏
Regarding formatting and cross-posting:
Hope you've found the Editor Guide to get to grips with the Dev flavour of markdown. You can open it from the Help (the question mark) button while writing a blog post which is handy.
If you would like to import your posts TO Medium you can do so by taking the URL from Dev, or anywhere else and following the Import a Story instructions. The good thing about this method is that Medium captures the original link as a canonical link and makes sure your SEO isn't penalised for duplication of content.
If you would like to import your posts FROM Medium to Dev you can find the Medium RSS feed for your publication or user profile using the instructions in the Medium Help Centre - yours is right here. Dev has the functionality to post these to your Dev dashboard as a draft as they are published over on Medium. To get this set up check out your Settings.
Hope that helps!
Thank you for the detailed instructions!!!!!!!
Fab, let me know how you get on :D
