Title is a tiny bit clickbait, but I've gotta give props for thinking outside of the box. I've been down this roadany times, where you're unhappy with the current tools but can't justify rolling your own. Sometimes the best option is to totally rethink the needs and find a different solution!

Apologies for baiting. I really wanted to convey the idea that you don't have to replace a product with another product. Sometimes a bit of code, and existing features can do the job very well.
