Golo Roden, Founder and CTO of @thenativeweb. Web and cloud. Node.js, JavaScript, and related technologies.

Please welcome Golo, one of the first members of the JS Kongress 2020 Program Committee. đź‘Ź Starting October 16 when the Call for Papers is closed, the committee will start to review all submissions and select the ones that best fit the theme. Upfront, we have asked him a couple of questions:

Why are you looking forward to #jskongress?

JS Kongress is a sophisticated community conference that has impressively demonstrated in recent years what is possible when like-minded people join forces and create something wonderful together. To develop something in a team with a shared intrinsic motivation and passion — what could be better?

What do you think about or associate with the 2020 motto “Scaling JS — Pushing the Limits: Massive Platforms, Data-Driven Architectures, and Modern APIs”?

JavaScript has risen from its early years. We use it to build large, complex systems and thus meet new challenges. In addition, there is a change in users’ expectations: applications must always be available, react quickly, integrate with other applications, and so on … to master these challenges, you do not only need the right technologies, but also solid fundamental knowledge about the appropriate concepts and methods to develop effective solutions. I think this combination of cutting-edge technology and sound fundamentals is very exciting.

What’s your vision for the program?

I would like to see a diverse and well-balanced agenda that covers many topics, but where all contributions have in common that one can learn a lot of new things in an entertaining way. It’s like a technical deep dive that’s still fun, with a lot of attention to detail — I’d love that!

Do you remember, when you got in touch with JS for the very first time? What was the reason for it, or who?

I originally come from the .NET world and was tired of having to deal with two languages — C# in the backend, JavaScript in the frontend. After unsuccessfully trying to bring C# into the browser, in 2010 I decided to use JavaScript in the backend and turned to Node.js. The thing that really impressed me then and still today is the lightness and rapidity with which you can design and build solutions based on JavaScript and Node.js.

Do you have some motivation for all speakers and everyone who thinks about submitting their idea for a talk?

From my experience, everyone has an exciting story to tell. Most people are afraid that their stories are boring because they are part of their everyday life — for others, however, these stories are a rare insight into a foreign world, and that is almost always exciting and interesting!

The Call for Papers of #jskongress 2020 is open until October 15 — we are looking forward to reading your ideas on https://sessionize.com/js-kongress-2020
