Last year our community member João Lopes compiled an album full of sounds and music taken directly from the js13kGames entries, which was quite popular at the time, so now is the time to do it again for 2024.
The best games all have something in common: great soundtracks. But I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that great game soundtracks don’t need big budget philharmonic compositions to be fun experiences. In fact, many fun games have simple tunes created in JavaScript using a myriad of tools, or even programmed by hand directly using the Web Audio API.
You can find the tunes from the best entries ranked in the Audio criterium on the album, but anyone was welcome to share their songs with the world and end up on the tracklist. The current count stopped at 12, since, you know, this year’s theme triskaidekaphobia means the fear of the number thirteen.
