Hi there! Iโm a frontend developer who primarily works with Next.js, and like many of you, I deploy my projects on Vercel. Recently, I came across Strapi Cloud through a comment by Pierre Burgy (Co-founders of Strapi), and it immediately caught my attention. Today, I want to share my experience and thoughts about it with you.
But first, letโs rewind a little. If youโre not familiar with Strapi, itโs an amazing headless CMS that gives you full control over your content and APIs. Iโve already written about why I think Strapi is great on my blog, and you can check it out here. Now, letโs dive into Strapi Cloud and why itโs especially useful for frontend developers like us.
What is Strapi Cloud? โ๏ธ
Strapi Cloud is a managed hosting platform designed to run Strapi applications seamlessly. Think of it as the perfect home for your backend when you donโt want to worry about setting up servers, handling deployments, or managing scalability. With Strapi Cloud, you get:
Managed Hosting: Strapi Cloud takes care of hosting your backend, so you can focus on building amazing projects.
Built-in Scalability: As your app grows, Strapi Cloud scales with youโno extra headaches.
Custom Domains & SSL: Easily connect your custom domain and ensure your app is secure.
Database Included : A fully managed database (PostgreSQL) is part of the package. ๐
Seamless Deployment: Push your code, and youโre good to go. No DevOps knowledge required.
Why Frontend Developers Will Love It ๐ป
If youโre a frontend developer deploying projects on Vercel, Strapi Cloud is a dream come true for your backend needs. Hereโs why:
1. No More Backend Hassles
We frontend folks love working with clean APIs, and Strapi makes that super easy. Strapi Cloud takes it one step further by handling all the backend setup and hosting for you. Itโs as simple as connecting your frontend to the Strapi API and focusing on what you do best: building stunning UIs. โจ
2. Perfect Pairing with Vercel
Strapi Cloud and Vercel complement each other perfectly. While Vercel takes care of deploying your frontend, Strapi Cloud handles your backend. Both services are designed for speed, scalability, and developer happiness. You get a fully decoupled architecture without the usual hassle.
3. Integrated Database
One of the challenges of self-hosting Strapi is managing the database. With Strapi Cloud, you get a built-in, managed PostgreSQL database, so you donโt have to worry about provisioning or maintaining it. Thatโs one less thing to think about. ๐ ๏ธ
4. Easy Deployment & Updates
Deploying updates to your backend on Strapi Cloud is a breeze. Whether itโs adding new API endpoints or tweaking your data models, you can do it with minimal effort. Push changes, and Strapi Cloud handles the rest.
5. Focus on What Matters
As a frontend developer, I love tools that help me stay focused on delivering features and value without distractions. Strapi Cloud fits perfectly into this mindset, giving me more time to build and iterate on my frontend.

I had the same issue and couldnโt deploy my Strapi project on Vercel either. Then I discovered Strapi Cloud, and it made everything so much easier to manage without complex setups. I recommend giving it a try!
