If you write desktop apps (Mac or Windows); I'd like your feedback on making the whole Sparkle update process easier.
I've written a few desktop apps, on Mac and Windows - and each time I have to put together the infra to handle Sparkle updates (or NetSparkle on Windows) I'm kinda amazed by how much work it is.
Sure - the work itself is fundamentally trivial, but there are LOTS of moving parts.
I believe the community as a whole could benefit from this update process being lots easier - but before I put this together I figured it'd make sense to test the waters, see whether its just me and maybe find some resonance in the community.
I put together a brief proposal / idea, the best place to read that is here: https://blog.effective-flow.ch/posts/necklace-appcast/ which also links to the discussion via GitHub.
Please don't be shy - if you've gone through this appcast process I would greatly appreciate your feedback on the idea (before I start writing lines of code).
Happy coding!
Thanks!
