Agree with all these points except the login/sign up modals. Imo, it's better UX for many apps to not redirect the user if possible
Though this is completely my opinion and I've no data to back it up. Can you provide any sources or studies which explain why modals for authentication are bad?
Also, if you had a multi-step modal and the user accidentally clicked out, it'd be relatively straight-forward to ensure the modal goes to the last active step when re-opened.
But yeah. Definitely hate the use of modals everywhere as a marketing spam tactic now
