It's about to get cold here, and as much as I tell myself I'll take a walk outside everyday, I know I won't.
I was thinking about an under desk elliptical since they are so tiny but I don't know anyone who's actually incorporated one into their day-to-day. I know a few folks who love their under desk treadmill but they visually seem so clunky to me that it feels like a bigger risk / investment.

I used the heck out of mine, being a remote worker was making it difficult to get in enough steps per day. I found that if I used my first hour or so to do solo work I could get through it relatively easily before standups and the likes would start.

No, but I now have a yoga mat and tights near my WFH setup and hope to get a brief workout between tasks once a day.
Iβve been thinking about ways to stay active during long workdays, even though I donβt really deal with cold weather. Sitting all day can be exhausting, so Iβm considering getting an under desk elliptical. It seems like a good way to keep moving without taking up much space. Iβve looked at under desk treadmills too, but they seem a bit bulky for me. Has anyone tried the elliptical? Iβd love to hear how it fits into your daily routine and whether itβs worth it.
The elliptical's small size is super appealing to me too.
I set up a stand-desk and a bar chair (easily adjust height). Whenever I feel tired, I stand to work ( like stand-up meeting). Whenever I feel my legs tired, I sit on the chair or walk around a house for 5 minutes. Or you can consider to set up an aquarium tank at home to immerse yourself to nature by feeding fishes. Loving hahhh. Hope your metal could be improved to keep up your progress of the day.
I recently bought a mini stepper that's been sturdy and surprisingly challenging for something that only weighs 20 pounds. It's really easy to move it around.

I don't use it while typing (not sure I could do any exercise while working), but it's convenient to step away from the desk and get on for 10 minutes.
No, I prefer to take a few breaks, put on a ruck with some weight and put in a mile in the fresh air at least a couple of times a day. Taking breaks outdoors clears the mind for me. I realize it might be difficult depending on your neighborhood though. I believe that walking/hiking while weight bearing is much better for you than a repetitive machine training your muscles in a restrictive gait. I do use a sit-stand desk though.
Planning to get one after I move house in the next few months!

I use my under desk treadmill pretty frequently at my standing desk, but it did take a bit to get used to typing while walking

I've been using a treadmill for over 5 years now - can only recommend it!
Started out with a compact one that only went up to 6km/h, but eventually replaced it with a foldable one that can go up to 10km/h. That way I can also use it for slow zone 2 runs when it's raining outside.
While working I typically go for ~4km/h as that's fast enough to actually feel like walking and still slow enough to have proper stability. Make sure to position your desk at the correct height, so that your lower arms can rest comfortably on it.
Mine is called WalkingPad R1 Pro and it's being marketed under different manufacturers. Cost me around 550β¬ here in Germany. I really like it and it's easy to set up, but the app is trash. I usually have my phone in my pocket, so I get the steps tracked anyways, but if you want to have a proper app that syncs everything (not just steps, but also distance, kcal, etc.) you might want to check for alternatives.

I've been lucky with mine so far. 3 years of almost daily usage and still going strong. But there've been a lot of new products since covid, so definitely check some reviews!

Anyway, what's the problem with getting out of the house to walk a bit, like 30 minutes a day, before or after working hours? TBH, this sounds superfluous to me.
