The CS degree really helps you understand how much you don't know. I for one had no interest in Networking before the course module. But now that I have a grasp of it, I find myself being able to pick up a lot of dev skills faster. You can't really expect it all to map one-to-one with your career goals yes - but it definitely can be more helpful than you might think. And more especially, all the lessons you learn interacting with the people you meet along the way. That is truly priceless.
