That's the great thing about open source, free as in freedom applies equality to people you like and people you don't like doing both things you like and things you don't like. That's kind of the entire point, that people (even company people) have the right to do what they wish with the software they have.
Developers are well within their rights to restrict who or how their software can be used, as MongoDB and others have done, just as long as they don't pretend to themselves or others that they are still open source.
