Entertainment as Code
by Salma Alam-Naylor
CFE (certified Fresh events) and FITC recently held the Jam.Dev. This was two days of talks on JavaScript and the Jan Stack. All presentations will be posted on CFE's site in the future.
One of my favorite talks was Salma Alam-Naylor's "Entertainment as Code". Here is link to talk synopsis. Her talk was about using code in entertaining ways.
She live codes on Twitch. Much of the talk covered fun bots she made for the audience to interact with here show. Like one that played a guitar riff when someone donated to her stream. But a bug in the played the riff for every dollar donated. $50 dollars meant that riff played fifty times over her stream.
Another fun bot was for people that told her how to code. She called the back seat coders. When activated an animated car is placed around her with a commenters avatar in the backseat.
The talk made me want to build some kind of fun app or game.
All presentations will be posted on CFE's site in the future.
