Do you use a laptop or desktop? On laptops I find the linux experience is very much dependent on your machine. I have a huawei laptop that I love but most distros are not very stable on it. I have a lenovo laptop that runs Fedora flawlessly (but my current daily driver is Mint w/Cinnamon which is awesome). About debian-based - if you run debian itself, yes, you will have old packages. But Ubuntu based distros, even though based on debian, will have much more recent versions of packages, plus nearly any question you have will have been answered on the internet for Ubuntu, given it's popularity.
I use a laptop and I do know that but that being said the few times i have completely switched to linux has been problematic to say the least so i think it would be a while before i try do this again. :)
makes sense - at the end of the day you gotta get stuff done :D I have done professional (backend) development using windows, mac, and linux and I vastly prefer to work in linux. It's not always easy to live in a windows/mac dominated world though.
Interesting. I used to used kali then moved to parrot and am on Manjaro. No issue with internet. I haven't seen any crashes. Discord voice issue well that's more like discord issue rather than Linux. Gaming, well one can but not at the same time. Proton by valve, wine, playonlinux are the answer to it.
But still what'd you went for Fedora like there are distros out there that come with Nvidia driver support like pop and manjaro and these also can play windows games too.
Gaming was really not a priority. The reason i chose fedora was that well it seemed to be quite stable and also had quite updated packages. Now I use windows with wsl, it seems to work fine for now but im thinking of using void and run windows as dual boot or kvm.
My suggestion is that, Switch to Linux only if you want to learn about that OS. One wouldn't just leave all the comfort of windows just for theming purposes π
I switch to Linux because of the glorious UNIX shell. I do know WSL exists but it has given me a lot of issues. ( nothing major just performance )
For that shell experience you can use mobaxterm,git bash or something else on windows. I personally find mobaxterm to be best in terms of providing Unix shell experience

I completely forgot one more option - WSL
I haven't used it on hdd since I've switched to SSD. On ssd it's performance is really nice.
Try Void Linux
I don't really know muck about void, maybe ill try that next :)
Void is not a much-discussed distro but trust me it's fascinating π
π Try Ubuntu
I've used Ubuntu before and its alright. the reason i did not go for a Debian base is the outdated packages. Also if i were to use an Ubuntu based distro highly recommend elementary OS.
I am using ubuntu for 1 year. I have not seen any major bug in this time. I am using ubuntu on acer extensa ex215-52.
Try Manjaro.
Try Pop OS if you have a nvidia card and want to game . I am a daily user of fedora here and Nvida works fine on my machine

Isn't Fedora by design a relative unstable testing platform for Red Hat (IBM) ? I've used it in the early days but am now fully in the somewhat boring Ubuntu camp.
If you get good hardware support on a particular distro then just try switching desktop environments.... since we spend most of our times there
