How did I get introduced to communities and how it all started?
Hey folks! I am Imran and I come from a Civil Engineering background. I started my Tech journey with DevOps 7 months ago in August 2022. I learned Linux, Git, networking, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Ansible, AWS, and many more tools and technologies in my journey. I have learned everything from Youtube and documentation only.
When I started learning, I found Kunal Kushwaha 's youtube channel and while learning from his DevOps Bootcamp. I got to know about Open Source, the concept of learning in public and the concept of joining communities and learning with everyone.
EddieHub Community
My experience with the EddieHub community
EddieHub community is an inclusive open-source community founded by Eddie Jaoude. EddieHub supports collaboration before code and focuses on helping each other in the community, learning together and helping new folks in starting open source.
I got to know about Eddie Jaoude and the EddieHub community from Kunal Kushwaha while learning from his DevOps Bootcamp. It has been 5 months since I am a part of the community. It's like a big tech family. Everyone is so helpful and so welcoming. It doesn't matter even if you are a complete newbie to tech or you have the knowledge, anyone from any tech stack can join the community and learn together. It is one of the best communities to start your open-source journey. EddieHub has so many amazing projects as well in which you can contribute and practice contributing to an open-source project. I got to know about Hacktoberfest 2022 through the community and I completed it. I am learning so much from the community. You can discuss your problems and projects and people will be there to help you. You can help others as well. It's really good to be a part of a community
I made a lot of friends and met so many amazing people through EddieHub. One of the best people I met through EddieHub is Dean Loft.

The community we started and my experience
GrowInCommunity is an inclusive open-source community founded by Mohd Imran {me} and Akshay Kumar. Our community focuses on learning, building and growing together.
When I started learning I got introduced to the concept of "learning in public". And I started sharing everything I was learning on my socials and helping others on daily basis. I met Akshay because of this on Twitter and we connected because of having the same interests, we both were from non-tech backgrounds and we became good friends.
We started this community in December 2022, just 2 months ago and we already crossed 500 members on Twitter and 400 members on Discord. The main focus of our community is helping new folks from any tech domain or any non-tech background get started in the tech world and open source. And creating an inclusive and friendly environment where everyone can learn together, build together, share problems and help each other and no one has to hesitate before asking questions.
Activities we do to make our community interactive and helpful
We conduct weekly discord sessions/calls with experienced industry experts where everyone can take guidance and ask questions from them.
We host Twitter spaces as well for discussion and interaction.
We have a discord community where everyone can interact with each other in specific channels.
People can have 1 on 1 mentoring session or discussions as well.
And many more
My experience with starting and running a community is amazing. We have helped so many folks so far and it feels really good when we get appreciation from the members and everyone gets to learn something from everyone.

I would say everyone should start learning in public and joining communities. It will make your tech journey 100 times better. I met a lot of amazing folks because of this.
