After writing some posts, dev.to got me 5 credits, which I spend on a listing. Doing a dev.to listings is simple and fast.

So it's definitely not bad to tell about your pet project, find contributors and so on.
If you have the credits on your profile and don't know about it, go spend that with something :-)
