Over the past week, we've observed a growing trend of people seeking alternatives to Postman, as they yearn for a more suitable option.
β
β
Look no further for a Postman alternative because at Hoppscotch πΈ, we are crafting an API development ecosystem with a core focus on delivering the finest developer experience. In this blog, we will delve into the features of Hoppscotch and elucidate how it can elevate your API-building and testing experience.
Open source π₯
βHoppscotch's open-source nature has helped to keep the contributors, users, and developers in sync. The transparency and trust built over time have led to swiftly addressing the issues, conducting open discussions on feature requests, and delivering a stable and reliable platform.
Collections π
As the name suggests, a collection is an organized group of API requests. With Hoppscotch, you can create any number of collections and organize the saved requests inside folders for better navigation.
Multi-Protocol Support β
Execute REST API requests, GraphQL queries and work with Real-time protocols like Web Socket, Socket.IO, SSE, and MQTT.
Environments βοΈ
An environment is a reusable set of key-value pairs that can be utilized in creating requests and writing scripts. It also helps to manage the shared data among the team members in a workspace. While accessing the environment variables in Request URL Bar, Hoppscotch offers an edit property to make changes to the variables then and there if needed.
Testing and Scripting Support π
Create test cases and perform test runs on responses you receive after sending requests. Hoppscotch provides JavaScript APIs that can be used in writing pre-request scripts and building tests. Use snippets present at side bar for different fields to know more about them.
History π
Keep track of your API requests and responses with Hoppscotch. As soon as you hit send to initiate a request, the call is recorded by hoppscotch and saved under History. To check out the past requests click on History icon and access when needed.
Workspace Collaboration π€
Use Hoppscotch Workspace to create an instant API development environment with your team members or invite collaborators outside your organization to contribute to it. Manage the permissions and assign suitable roles as per need.
Hoppscotch CLI π»
Set up Hoppscotch CLI and configure your APIs by exporting the collections and environments. Follow a set of commands to get test summary of the API.
Self-Host Support π
To attain complete control of your API development workflow try Hoppscotch's self-host version. Configure and set up Hoppscotch on your local machine and get access to the admin dashboard where you can manage teams and users at your workspace.
And that's a wrap. Explore Hoppscotch πΈ and stay tuned with releases to keep track of what's cooking and new at our platform.

Sure, it will be a pleasure
I have been using Insomnia ever since it was released a few years ago as an alternative to Postman. Now as I am not doing any API work anymore, I barely use it.
Hoppscotch looks like an amazing tool, and would love to try it sometime if I ever start working on an API again, or to just test out an API we already have at work.
Wow, this is the project that I wanted for very long time ago. Thank you
Glad to know π
Great project!
Can't wait to see where you are going with it :)
Stay tuned for the updates π
This is so dope, I'm gonna check it out!
Hi, github.com/hoppscotch/hoppscotch/i... please could we get support for this feature, the ability to sync collections and environments in a git repo?
We'll look more into this and try to deliver the feasible feature asap.
However, I recommend checking the latest information and user reviews to ensure that there haven't been significant changes or developments since then. Open-source projects videostatusfinder.com/ can evolve quickly, and new tools may emerge in the API development ecosystem.

Hoppscotch is indeed an open-source, self-hosted API development ecosystem that allows users to make HTTP requests, test APIs, and more. It provides a user-friendly interface for interacting wagyu beef with APIs and is an alternative to tools like Postman. Users can create and organize requests, set headers, manage environments, and view responses in a structured manner.
