Write A Post (just write it already!)

Hey you!
Yeah I'm talking to you. The guy who looks at me in the mirror right now. (And maybe some others).

You should really start blogging.

It's unforgiven for someone who's been in the industry for some years now, to avoid writing. Don't you dare telling me that you don't have anything to share with the world.

I know I know,
You have a long list of explanations why not:
You are not smart enough.
Your english is not perfect.
You dont have time for it.
You can't... ENOUGH!

Blogging would make you understand your stuff better. And deeper.
Blogging would make people learn from your experience and from your mistakes.
Blogging would advance your career in many ways, Some of them would surprise you.

You should really start blogging.

(inspired by the "Write a post" button up here. look! it's so easy to push it! give it a try now)

Great post Hagai,

I would love to contribute but I feel I am still fairly inexperienced in comparison to some of the people who post, I struggle to see what I could write that would be of any interest.

Write a post about that!
The very fact that you are writing would give you ideas.
And maybe ask for the community ideas/comments.
The community here is invaluable!

Thanks for the inspirational post Hagai.

My reason for starting a blog was a bit selfish.

I was too lazy to memorize what I've learned and wanted to go back to what I wrote about. (kind of like a personal cheat sheet).

There are still some posts I do go back once in awhile 🙃)

Thanks
That's a great idea!
I'll try to do that too. (posting in order to remember things and get back to them in the future)

That actually depends on what you're writing and why. I learn more by reading than by writing. (But I read a lot that is relevant for I am about to write to minimize the risk of writing wrong information, so both helps, probably.)

The way I understood that quote is that, once you start writing, you find gaps in your knowledge.

I do much research before writing but after start writing, I run into many situations where my understanding lacked.

Thanks,
That's what I meant.
I'm sure I understand something, but when I'm starting to explain it to someone, I find that I didn't quite understand some parts.

I've attempted to start micro blogging for the past 2 years. Still haven't been able to press publish on any of the countless drafts!

I'm struggling on what the first post should be about, does it have to be an explainer of the blog, why you're writing or do you just go straight into it?

After that barrier, the amount of edits I've gone through, and it never sounds / reads quite right?

Maybe perfection syndrome has gotten ahead of me!

I do suppose it doesn't matter if it's code related, does it?

The only thing that matters (imo) is whether you care about the subject
