Priorities And How To Be More Productive

When we are talking about productivity there is a big difference between doing a lot of work and producing results. There are many cases, where people have too many ‘urgent projects’ and when everything is on ‘fire’ – It’s much harder to focus on the leverage points that will produce the most meaningful results with minimal effort.

It’s good to remember both quotes as they give you a good hint during a ‘busy day’.

Good hacks

• Find time to go out and enjoy nature. Always.
• Set a time to think about your goals and have a list of action items you need to do to get to your goals. The next step is to organize this list and see which action items can bring you closer but won’t take a lot of effort. These are the ones you wish to do first. It’s the ‘High Impact’ & ‘Low Effort’ section in the chart at the top.
• Block time to do some ‘real work’. At that time, make sure your other devices aren’t in reach and you set a ‘zen mode’ in your editor (or any similar settings if you aren’t a developer).
• Try to set time for work (20-30min intervals) and rest (~15min between). Something like Pomodoro_Technique. It’s important not to work yourself until exhaustion. You won’t do your best work and the quality of your creations will go down. Here is a Pomodoro tool to help you with that.
• Make sure you are working against the priorities you set – Especially when new requests are coming in.
• Say ‘no’ to projects that aren’t on your list of priorities (most probably they won’t move the needle for you).
