I am a remote developer and work with people from different parts of the world. This funny story is about one of my previous remote projects.
At that time I lived in Italy and my manager was in Brunei (the name of the country has been changed for confidentiality purposesπ). Due to time zone difference, we had daily meetings at my 7 a.m. You cannot imagine how much I love to sleep, but it was a half of the problem. Few times a week our meetings lasted 3-5 hours!
My manager was a good and responsible person, trying to keep everything under his close control. He was not a developer in the past, as it often happens to IT managers. He was - a crime interrogator. Yes, those ones who catch the criminals. He was trying to get involved in any small technical detail, even when he could not understand a half. He was doing it with such diligence, making 100 questions, that I really felt like we are investigating a criminal case.
This story is already in past and I am happy now working at Aspose, in the company where I am free to choose my workstyle. π©βπ»
But, that interesting experience really showed me how much your way of thinking influence all you do. You may leave being a crime interrogator, but being an interrogator will not leave you! π βπ»

I work at Ericsson, remote job also.
Everyday, I enter an 8 hours meeting (STC project), starting 00:00 AM and ends 8:00 AM, in which, we (my team (Lebanon), India, China and Saoudi Arabia) discuss the plan and solve any issue that takes place during working hours.
When I was assigned on a project (Airtel Rwanda), my teammate and I were doing a very critical activity to the telecom network.
All managers related to the project along with the customer attended the meeting.
It took place from 00:00 till 10:00 AM.
Btw, you have a typo error: "But, that interesting experince" (missing e to experience)π
It seems, being Integration Engineer requires being always present and available.
Actually, when you are a developer it is the same. Especially when you participate in startup.
I was quite used to that, as I was a startup lover.
But, voice daily meetings, that lasted more than 1 hour were making me feel really exhausted.

Well, I am one of those who answers: "I want to build my project!" on the question: "How do you see yourself in 5 years?"
