No. It turned out that a geek called "Ben Alman" invented them in 2010. Thanks for the interest. Here's the link:

He invented the name, but they were already being used, the article says as much, people were just calling them “self-executing anonymous functions”. I'm pretty sure the ability to make them has been there from the beginning, but perhaps someone was first to discover the method.
