Do Dev's really need to 'code from scratch' or can they start with visual modeling interface that helps get apps started and components organized before they need to start actual coding?

CS50, Harvards Intro to Programming paper uses Scratch to do exactly that. Scratch is designed for kids and young people but teaches concepts like loops in an easy to understand way.
