Hey everyone today I'm going to try to answer the question is a coding bootcamp still worth it in 2022/23 my answer is going to be based on my own experiences as a bootcamp student and mentor and as a developer working in the actual job market the goal behind doing this blog is that hopefully it'll answer some questions that you might have and be a guide for you as you consider whether or not a bootcamp is the right choice for you so let's dive into it.
let's examine the question behind this itself which is is a bootcamp still worth it and I think the emphasis is on the word worth and when people are asking this question I think people really want to know is a bootcamp going to help me get a job so I answer this in two ways the first answer has to do with the market and the second answer has to do with you as a person so let's go ahead and start with the market when people are asking this question in terms of the market I think people want to know is the market for junior developers saturated and I think the answer here is no if you look at any of the statistics about developer jobs going unfilled i think it's clear that there is still a demand for developers and for technical skill in general in the job market that said it doesn't necessarily mean that every single opening is for a junior developer even if it is the case that there are fewer openings for junior developers i don't think that's anything to worry about.
TIME
coding boot camp they're going to ask you to commit
six nine hours a day a lot of them ask you you'll actually have to quit your job to be able to go to a full-time coding boot camp and graduate in three to four months there are some part-time Corner boot camps out there but that means I'll take you baby nine months to graduate instead for someone like me I don't do well of homework for someone like me I do need someone to push me but I think my self-determination is strong enough to the point where I can self-teach myself some people don't have TO.
REVIEW
Just because they say they're good calling boot camp does not mean they're a good coding bootcamp then how do I find out their good Coding bootcamp, do you look for a coding boot camp that you like you do research on them number two you try to find people who I've attended at coding bootcamp you go to LinkedIn you search people who have that coding boot camp on their LinkedIn on their resume you message them you find them on Twitter, Twitter is amazing for a reason because you can message anyone on Twitter check out the comments maybe left comments on a Twitter about the boot camp to everything you can to find out anything about them obviously maybe reach out to recruiter that works at boot camp but don't trust everything they say next on top of that when it comes to watching out you don't get scammed or you just don't attend the wrong boot camp I think make sure you're learning the right curriculum
MY POV
LEARN BEFORE YOU LEARN
Pick a coding curriculum and ask yourself can you learn on your own. Do the best you can and teach other people teaching helps unwinding and speed up the learning process.
