Scott, I know what you mean. In-office workspaces provided equality of work-area that employees with different resources might not be able to provide for themselves. It will be interesting how this works its way out.

One way this might work out, along a different dimension, is not so well for people seeking to work from high-cost-of living areas. medium.datadriveninvestor.com/the-...

Yikes, I hadn't even thought about the possibility of an eventual phase-out of high-cost-of-living employees.

Yes, that's exactly the way companies is doing right now like Google. Which i heard that is compensation packages based upon geographic location. Tbh this only affects you when you are competing on price which is always a race to the bottom.

As my sales trainer who taught me, this analogy "You won't ask a specialist on price, instead you will do that to a generalist." Therefore you must be crystal clear in what you do. While being a goto person through personal branding, sharing your knowledge or experience and networking with fellow peers.

Like for me, i'm a life enhancer who blends tech & entrepreneurship for startups. My tool of choice is Python and low code/no-code tool to build products or services. I'm also a blogger with a following of 36+k developers, who reads my articles.

Am i able to build mobile apps, IoT systems or manage/moderate technical communities or work on government tenders. Heck yeah, but that is not my bread and butter that I wanted to be known for.

Instead i'm known for my value, i bring to the table when i'm hired through my combined knowledge, experience, network & personal voice.

Max, you are spot on right. Competing on price is a race to the bottom and fitting in is a good way to get shut out. Instead, stand out with unique value.
