It's been almost year since I started to work on a project I proposed myself and now we're at the point where it's finally got released.
I've been hard working and tried my best, almost solely with occasional help of my teammates, with a design part on my shoulders as well, with countless app iterations (about 4), we could accomplish the release of the Figma Plugin.
Actually the design was done also by a Tester, we were tightly collaborating to make the great design to be real. We were also deciding the UX related features and I think this came to be GREAT.
Now let me quickly introduce what it's about. There is a tendency in the world to migrate everything to digital world - this is "manager" of Menu Designs. It means that right in the Figma, in two clicks you can replace a Menu Banner in your cafe. Of course for that you would need to buy a Monitor since this is not a Magic...
The plugin is just a part of the work actually, it's a link in the chain of Admin Panel, Figma Plugin and Menu App.
To be exact, it helps to populate your design with Menu Items from a desired POS (Point of Sale) provider and Save the design for later use or instant replacement. The menu items are also updated on fly whenever they updated in your POS. It contains other features to make the designing to be the most easy and satisfying process.
There is actually a whole story behind it that even some developers and managers don't know. There are some intriguing twists, so if you're interested, subscribe I will create a new post in future.
As a developer I can say: this was a wonderful journey, I learnt tons of new things and came up with great ideas. I improved UI components to be more accessible, adopted new codebase structuring strategies, got inspired and frustrated by Figma API and of course grown stronger as a UI/UX designer.
