CONTRIBUTING: James Jackson-South on ImageSharp

Leading up to (and during) the month of October, we want to help you discover open source projects to work on, and put your Hacktoberfest contributions to excellent use. Meet James Jackson-South, who works on ImageSharp.

Check out this page regularly for more interviews with contributors & maintainers

What can you tell us about your project?
ImageSharp is a cross-platform, fully managed image processing library in .NET Core, or .NET everything. It does everything you'd expect from a graphics API - from basic image manipulation, formats, loading and saving, drawing, and anything inbetween, it's a very powerful bit of kit.

What contributions are you welcoming?
We have a team of very dedicated core developers, but it would be great to get other people's insights, see what kind of skills people can bring to the table. I've learned a lot of stuff working on this project, I think it's great for anyone to get involved, grow their skills, or show what chops they've got. We're happy to take anything!

What skills do people need to contribute?
You'll need a strong background in .NET to understand some of the stuff that we've got going on. We do like to push the envelope a bit there. But other than code reviews, we can use help with documentation. Like spell checking, my spelling is appalling.

I'm sure anyone wanting to contribute have more skills than they think they have. You'll for sure be able to do something productive.

How do folks get started?
Start with our Contribution guidelines in our repo, our documentation that you could have a good look through. And come to our Discussions channel in our repo, where you can suggest new features, or discuss an issue you've picked up from the issue tracker.

Head over to the repository and there should be plenty of ways forward.
