One thing I've come to learn over the years is this:
Don't be afraid to be bold.
As a developer, small visual differences can feel big, but they really aren't. If you think "nah, that would be too much, right?", chances are you're one step shy of what looks great.
This mostly applies to space, scale, sizing (Yes, you really do need more whitespace. I know, it feels like it should be enough, but really, go a bit further!), but also for colours: Don't be afraid of colours that have more contrast and depth too them - what you're building right now is still too bland!
And finally:
It will still be "not enough". Keep reworking it. You'll come back to it in a week and see what I'm talking about.
