I was a freelancer a few years ago and I couldn't earn much money.
Now, I work for a company and have a full-time job and it's more satisfying with ten times the salary! I'm more relaxed and I don't have to argue with clients.

If you want to freelance, you can start using Fiverr .
There you can publish gigs to offer your specific services to a customer.. Example:

  • I will make a responsive website
  • I will teach to you about programming with PHP
  • I will design your SQL Database
  • I will fix bugs of your application

Also, you can set plans with different prices and services.. Example:

  • Basic plan: $10 usd
  • Standard Plan $30
  • Premium Plan: $100

A disadvantage is that Fiverr get the 12% (aprox) of your pay.. But, is a very good place to offer your services to final client and get experience..

fiverr is very low , how to make money as a dev with 10-50$ a gig ? Cannot even eat at third world country at 10$/hr , let alone 10$ per gig..

Yeah... In France, anything below 40€/hr is ridiculous with all the taxes we have.

Yeah, Fiverr could have low rentability in some cases 😪
Fortunately in my experience as Shopify Developer (Frontend) in Fiverr, the real bussiness is do a couple of gigs for a client and then (if you did it well) he will contact you again and pay a lot more for custom work 😁

I think it is because some clients are looking for a trusted developer.. But of course, it's a matter of trying your luck

If you use Fiverr, please don't under value yourself like many other sellers in fiverr.

  1. Upload your work to GitHub 🚀
  2. Start contributing to open source projects to gain experience working in a team 👨‍💻
  3. Build a portfolio 🏗
  4. Start looking for a job in your local area or even remotely 🕵️‍♂️
  5. Get hired 🎉
  6. Congratulations, now you make money as a developer 💸

Sounds easy, but it's not. Just be patient, keep working, and you will get there sooner or later.

Good luck 🍀

I've always had good luck with recruiters to help me find jobs.

As you're in India, try working with Indian recruiters. Here's one example, but I cannot vouch for them: naukri.com/software-developer-recr...

You may also want to change your presentation. 'Professional Idiot' and 'Building useless products' do not inspire confidence in your abilities. I realize there's a bit of humor in it, but if you're trying to make money in development, you might need to rethink that.

However, if you're trying to make money in comedy, it might be the way to go...

Yeah, I understand that, but I like that way, still I need to change it to get hired. Thanks for the suggestion anyway 👍

Recently, I read about pages which pay you to write articles (with real usefulness and knowledge).. You can get between $100-500 USD for a good blog post on various platforms.

  • Larger posts, with deeper knowledge and easy to read. pay more...
  • Each platform look for different topics. Maybe you can write for them !

It's not that easy, and you need many months of regular writing to being able to, perhaps, live with blogging.

I think you can make a beautiful portfolio for yourself, introduce these projects, and deploy all your projects to some platform, making them accessible at any time. So you can find a job with your professional skills.
