Create a Sunburst Chart in Excel Office 365 with an Example!!

A Sunburst chart is used to visualize hierarchical data structure. It consists of an inner circle surrounded by rings of deeper hierarchy levels. The top-level categories will make the inner rings and the sub-categories are plotted as the outer rings. This chart is used to compare the relative sizes. Insert a Sunburst Chart:

  • You need to select the data range that you want to create a chart.

  • Then, on the Insert Tab, select the Insert hierarchy charts icon under the Charts section.
  • After that, click the Sunburst chart option from the drop-down menu.

Pros:

  • Quick visualization of hierarchical data.
  • It is a built-in chart type in Excel.

Cons:

  • Chart data is must be sorted by category.
  • It has only limited options.
