When I first considered a career in interior design, I felt overwhelmed and unsure. For years, I had admired beautifully designed spaces from afar, but I never believed I could be the one creating them. My life was a monotonous cycle, filled with a job that left little room for creativity. It wasn't until I discovered the interior design courses at Eduleem School of Design & IT that everything changed.
Walking into the school for the first time was a mix of excitement and trepidation. I remember the vibrant atmosphere filled with students sharing ideas and inspirations. Our instructors were seasoned professionals who genuinely cared about our growth. They introduced us to essential design tools like AutoCAD, SketchUp, V-Ray, and 3ds Max, which initially felt daunting but quickly became the foundation of my learning.
In the beginning, learning to navigate AutoCAD was a challenge. I spent countless hours watching tutorials, practicing, and asking questions. But with each passing week, I grew more confident in my abilities. I vividly recall my first project: redesigning a small room. Using SketchUp, I created a 3D model that allowed me to visualize my ideas. When I presented it to my class, their feedback was overwhelmingly positive, fueling my passion for design even further.
As the course progressed, I immersed myself in the principles of color theory, space planning, and lighting design. The combination of theory and practical application was transformative. I learned how to create spaces that weren't just aesthetically pleasing but also functional and reflective of the occupants' lifestyles. One of the most exhilarating moments was when I worked on a collaborative project, utilizing V-Ray to create realistic renderings. Seeing my designs come to life was exhilarating!
Interning with a local design firm during my studies was a pivotal experience. I applied what I had learned in real-world settings, working on actual projects and collaborating with experienced designers. I remember one particular project where I was tasked with redesigning an office space. Using 3ds Max, I created a modern design that incorporated ergonomic furniture and innovative layouts. Presenting my work to the client and witnessing their excitement was a moment I will cherish forever.
Networking with classmates and instructors added another layer of value to my experience. We shared ideas, critiqued each other's work, and celebrated our milestones together. This sense of community not only fostered collaboration but also allowed me to learn from diverse perspectives, which was invaluable in shaping my design philosophy.
As I continue my journey in the Diploma in Interior Design program at Eduleem, I am constantly learning and evolving. I am building a portfolio that showcases my work while expanding my network of contacts in the industry. My newfound confidence and skills empower me to dream bigger and pursue my passion for interior design.
Today, I am proud to be a student at Eduleem, where I am developing my abilities and preparing for a career in interior design. My journey from nothing to something has taught me that with passion, determination, and the right guidance, anything is possible.
