DEV Community

Embarkment

I had a GeoCities site in the 90s and have hobby-coded since then. Up to now, I'm self-taught and I have no developer community. I don't know what I don't know, but I expect I could build cooler projects more quickly if I took some more formalized training and found some community. So I decided to sign up for a six-month night-class bootcamp that starts next month. I'm scared I'm not going to have enough time to devote to the class, already having a family and a fulltime job. I'm also afraid this is a silly investment: that I'm going to spend all this money and time and not get very much out of this. And anyways, what the hell am I going to do with basic developer skills when I already have an established career I enjoy? I don't know. But I'm excited to take a risk and dive in, learn some new things, make some new friends, and explore new possibilities.

Exactly how I felt when I signed up for a bootcamp also! All the best with your studies and juggling everything else.
