Blog Post of My Learning

The week of September 20, 2021 saw me get frustrated and confused as I continued with my learning of Ruby in Codecademy. I learned "Printing the Output" which uses string methods to capitalize. "Control Flow in Ruby" was interesting because I learned about Environment, If and True expressions, white space, and Else.

During this week I also learned how to use gets.chomp which was difficult because of the language like I mentioned before (former school teacher). I then studied about Loops & Iterators, Infinite Loops. As my mentor Gino Capio mentioned before, "Erik, take breaks and do not forget to reach out in Coolcats group.

I remember this phase man but, I would say totally listen to Gino. Many times as a new developer you may want to tackle the situation head on. Maybe because you want to prove something, to yourself, to others, whatever. Ofcourse you should always try to come up with the solution yourself but time it for at least 15 min, after that just reach out.

Many experienced developers will tell you the same. It's more so about being time effecient. Don't spend an hour trying to find a solution when asking could also solve it in a matter of minutes from just asking. Good luck on your journey bro, I'm always here to help as much as I can as well.
