Temporary Containers in Firefox
- Install https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/multi-account-containers (adds color-coded tabs)
-
Install https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/temporary-containers
- activate automatic mode
- configure to delete the container when its last open tab closes.
- Enable Open new Temporary Containers if a Permanent Container Tab tries to load a Domain that isn’t assigned to “Always open in” that container when you’re comfortable that your persistent container configuration has stabilized (to lock it down).
-
when you need to make a container stick
- “Multi-Account Containers” icon / “edit” / “+”
- Add a container with the (domain) name and colour you like
- Click it in “Multi-Account Containers” (opens the container in a new tab)
- In that new tab, type the target URL in the location bar
- Enable “Multi-Account Containers” / “Always open in [container]“. Later, when you try to open a url that matches a container, you’ll be asked whether you want to open the url in that container, and whether to remember your decision. If you use multiple logins on the same website, it makes sense to not remember the decision and to open the container explicitly every time, or to pin the tab, and configure firefox to remember the open tabs upon closing.
