I'll open my AI kiosk in the market square in Marrakesh and sell prompt engineering services for postcards and 3D printed badges to idle elderly tourists…

I've been notified (1.5 weeks ago) that the company I've at for 13 years is being sold to merged with another. The new entity has no plans to maintain an office or employees in my country within a year or two.
For the first time in a long time I'm looking for work, but with a timetable of 1/2 to 2 years.
I'd be insanely lucky to fall into the long term coding positions I've held. 2 in the last 20 years.

Gravely voiced movie trailer narrator (gvmtn): In a world changed from what we knew, in a time of uncertainty and upheaval... will this one man be able to find gainful employment, be able to support his family? Will the danger of AI hype derail is very dreams... his life?

Fantasyland: will do a sell-exit of the web app my wife and I are building, kit out a Mercedes sprinter van as a basecamp, load up a couple of mountain bikes, and drive all over North America for a year, just sampling the singletrack everywhere.

Reality: I'll probably be working some job that I hate, making enough money where I'll refer to it as "golden handcuffs" and not want to leave even though it makes me crazy.
