Welcome!
what up gents... long time lurker/reader trying to get more active in community stuff. Probably 50/50 design to dev experience. Always been a struggle to stick to one side or the other. As i'm looking to go back to more stable work trying to get up to speed on anything I'm lacking.
Hello! 👏
Hello, I lurked for a while too,
Hey, great to have you here, Welcome back!
Hi everyone :D
Hey Hayeong! Welcome.
Hello! Nice to have you here! 🙌
Hello Hayeong.
Hi everyone! I'm currently a Senior React Developer. I love working in JavaScript and TypeScript as well as HTML5, CSS, Next.js, node.js, and myriad other technologies.
I've been doing web development in some shape or form for almost 20 years, and I consider myself a life-long learner, so I'm happy to be here where that is a priority.
I have a bare-bones website where you can learn about me, read some blog posts, or contact me at mkelley33.com. I'm always open to new opportunities, introductions, and networking. You can find me on LinkedIn at linkedin.com/in/mkelley33/. I have some work posted on GitHub at github.com/mkelley33 and welcome contributions, criticism, and feedback.
Thank you for letting me be a part of your community. I look forward to contributing, time permitting, growing, and learning with all of you.

Hi there! I'm Rosie and I found out about Code Newbie a couple weeks ago and I am now slowly starting to get into the community forums. I am trying to transition from a tech support role to a dev role. Currently studying Python :D
Hey Rosie!
My name is Michael and I'm a Community Manager here at DEV. Cool to hear that you've been using CodeNewbie as a resource! 🙌
You may have already discovered this, but CodeNewbie and DEV are both run by the same company, Forem. We actually have a CodeNewbie org right here on DEV:
CodeNewbie

Hi everyone! Have found myself here after deciding that I want to dive deeper into my coding passion, combining it with my love of reading & writing. Looking forward to reading the thoughts and findings of others, sharing my own, and making new connections. Fun fact: I got into software after completing a degree in English Lit! Would be cool to hear others' unconventional routes into programming - what brought you here? And what made you stay?
Hope everyone has a great weekend :)
Hey Ben!
Welcome to DEV. 👋
My name is Michael and I'm a Community Manager here at DEV.
Interesting to hear that you got into software after completing an English Lit degree. Similarly, I got a BFA in Creative Writing and a minor in English before taking the left turn into tech, haha.
That said, I'm not truly a dev... I'm a good bit more technical than most English majoring folks but can't claim to be a dev. Still, I found myself in the tech world first as an editor at DZone and then graduated to their Community Manager and that experience eventually brought me to where I am now with a full-time gig here at DEV.
One of the things that drew me to apply here is I love how inclusive and diverse this community is. Notably, DZone had a much larger audience of enterprise Java devs (they used to be called javalobby.com) whereas DEV is more made up of web developers. Both communities technically serve either party, but different groups of folks gravitate to different places.
And as for what has made me stay here — well, of course I work here, haha. 😀 But that in mind, I've had this job for 5+ years and that's really because of the amazing folks I get to work alongside every day — both the DEV Team and the community members (particularly the team of volunteer Community Moderators, who I have the privilege of managing!) I genuinely feel like we have a particularly kind and helpful community. Not to say that we don't have issues — we do, haha! — but in general, I believe we've cultivated a pretty awesome place here. And we've been able to do so because we have a lot of kind folks here providing constructive criticism and encouraging each other. There's a lot of good vibes.
Anyway, I hope you find this community to be as helpful and friendly as I've built it up to be, haha. Feel free to hit me up if you have any questions or feedback!
Thanks for sharing, Michael! Sounds like a cool community to be a part of 🔥
