If you love reading books on software development, I would highly recommend the book. I have benefited from the tips and advice given in this book.
The publishers have put the tips for us on their site.
This book link is not working
But glad to connect with you
Fixed the link.
Thanks for it
if possible can you describe how can you become great at software development
in 2-3 lines
Becoming great at software development requires a genuine passion for the craft, a deep appreciation for its impact on people, and a commitment to continuous learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Its scope goes beyond code and computers, emphasizing the interconnectedness of technology and human experiences.
Thank you for sharing valuable information
That's an amazing book! Looking forward to reading your posts!
Hello there. Though I'm not a very new guy here, but I never really introduced myself.
I am Rechie Kho, and I am a self-taught programmer who does most of the programming thing already.
Here are some facts:
j
andk
is not moving my cursor. Not sure what crazy stuff will I do after these, but I'll always make sure I have fun in programming them.
Hello! Great to have you here! 🙏
Greetings, Rechie Kho! 👋 You truly got some really awesome stuff going on! Keep it up!
You are fortunate to get chance to work on lot of cool stuff!
Probably, you would also enjoy this editor.
The war between vim and emacs is never-ending.
True. We need to keep ourselves sane in such wars. Editors are for us, and not vice versa. Until the advent of IDEs, I used editors for Java programming. Notepad, Wordpad, DOS edit, vim. Text editors took a back seat once IDEs like Rational XDE, Eclipse, and IntelliJ were available to the dev community. Today IntelliJ is my first choice. And I complement it with Notepad++ and VS Code. VS Code is also a very powerful IDE for many languages.
neovim + vscode. It gets the job done. I'm a terminal guy so I got to stay with neovim. But sometime vscode is much easy to setup for some other programming languages as its plugin ecosystem is much user-friendly.

Hi, I was using Medium as a standard place for quality content, but recently I started to get this website in my search more often.
Do you guys think Dev.to is somehow better than Medium or equivalent?

Good, how are you?
I am fine, thanks
Hi there Community.
I'm a former (around 2000'ish) Pro. Coder in C++ Sql and like on the windows platform.
I got really bored dev. admin.sys for Insurance and landlords, and choose to move on.
Got trained as a Social and Health prof. and worked with the pore and elderly for some years, before I kinda drifted to become a Damage Control Worker.
Now I only code for fun and have been doing that for decades.

Welcome everyone!

Hello folks, I'm very excited to join this family. I'm a beginner in web development and just have the knowledge of DSA but with all your people's experience and projects I'm looking forward to gain a lot of knowledge. Thanks for letting me in!!
Hello, welcome to the DEV community! I hope you will like it here.
Hi there. I am new to coding and soon starting my bootcamp crusade. Wish me good luck!
Good luck Roman!
Hi everyone!
Welcome to the dev.to-community!
I'm Martin, and I worked as a Senior Front End Architect and Engineering Manager at one of the world's largest digital agencies, where I led Front End Teams for international projects. After 15 years, I quit my job. Now I travel the world as a professional scuba diver, work as a freelance Front End Tech Lead and technical Recruiter for international clients. Besides that, I write about technology.
My latest book about Modern Full Stack development will be published in the beginning of next year by No Stach Press. It's an easy, hands-on introduction to creating web applications with Next.js, MongoDB and Mongoose (there's currently a 25% Discount!). You can read more about how to become a published author in my upcoming article about writing books.
I am mentoring fellow developers on another platform as well as on dev.to. I am currently publishing the "LevelUp: Elevate your Career Today" series where I give Career and Interview advice based on my experience as Engineering Manager and Technical Recruiter. (It's bascially free mentoring, don't tell my paying mentees about that :D)
If I have enough time, I write more in-depth articles, for example how to create multi-language pages with next export, which is on GitHub:next-export-i18n and npmjs: next-export-i18n
I recommend following the general tags webdev, vscode , career and productivity and javascript, react, CSS. Head over to your Dashboard and adjust the tag weight to personalize your home feed.
Here's a list of articles to start your journey as a successful developer and a great writer:
If you are looking for your next job, I highly recommend buying the Book De-Coding the Technical Interview Process by Emma Bostian. It is hands down the best preparation for every technical interview.
If you're interested in my articles, follow me on dev.to/martinkr or twitter.com/_martinkr.
If you have questions or want to get in touch, don't hesitate to contact me on dev.to/martinkr.
And remember to start posting today!
Cheers!

I started my journey on Dev.to because I really needed to find ways to promote a game I made. I read that a good way to do that is to just write dev logs that link to your game. That sounded preposterous at first! I want people to play my games, not find out how I make them!
But I started writing the articles anyway, and got used to pop out a post once in a while. I find that fun to do.
Now I'm building a new game engine using JavaScript / WebGL, and I'm writing about it as I go along, because I'm hoping someone along the way will join my adventure, because:
Anyway, hope y'all have a nice day!
Hi I'm Gee. I have always wanted an online community to belong to where I can find the help I need with someone asking me what is html when I need help.

Hellooooooooo my name is João Neves, and I am a Brazilian fullstack developer. I started my career as a developer in 2020, working initially as a frontend developer. After that, I realized that I love to know more about project's business details so I expanded my expertise to backend technologies, particularly NodeJS and .NET (C#).

👋 Hi, I'm Autonomous_AJ. My journey into the tech world started unexpectedly. With a background in medical device sales and a stint at PwC, my life took a transformative turn in 2018 when I stumbled upon Python. At 34, grappling with a feeling of being lost, I discovered the exhilarating world of coding, and it was love at first script.
Today, I'm deeply grateful for this path. I've delved into a myriad of interests using Python, from sports analytics to political data analysis, and I'm excited to share these explorations with you. My passion isn't just about coding; it's about continuous learning and contributing to the vibrant community that welcomed me.
I’m particularly fascinated by the potential of AI, especially with the advent of technologies like ChatGPT and GPT-4. I believe in tinkering without boundaries, where growth is the only goal and learning is an end in itself. My GitHub projects, like the Spotify API, Square API, Stripe API, NASA API, Garmin API, and many others are testaments to this philosophy.
Join me on this journey of discovery, experimentation, and sharing knowledge. Expect daily insights into various topics, powered by Python and a relentless curiosity. Let's learn and grow together!

Hello everyone,
I'm Theophilus, hailing from the vibrant country of Ghana. I'm fueled by a deep passion for technology, which has recently led me to embark on a career transition to become a Full Stack Developer through self-study. To support my journey, I've established a dedicated workspace featuring a Lenovo P50 Workstation and dual Dell 24 monitors.
While I've made significant strides on my own, what I currently lack is the invaluable guidance of a mentor. That's why I'm reaching out to this wonderful community – in the hopes of finding individuals willing to share their expertise and offer mentorship as I navigate this exciting but challenging path.
I'm open to connecting with anyone who's willing to extend a helping hand, share insights, or provide guidance. Your assistance means a lot to me, and I truly appreciate your time and consideration.
Thank you, and I look forward to being a part of this supportive community!
Hello dev.to Community,
Krish this side. I am a full stack developer with Python as my main language. I used to be a open-source project contributor but now i am more into competitive programming using Java. Looking forward to meet everyone here. To start a small conversation why don't we discuss which is better according to you. Django or FastAPI? Your insights will really help me as well! I am working on a project which needs fast response time along with perfect database integration.
my github is github.com/krishsharma0413 i haven't touched it for years, please don't judge me :(
Hey hey! Welcome aboard to the DEV community :D
Both the frameworks you mentioned can definitely achieve this and are fun to work with! I've enjoyed working with both. For some things, Django is more of a "batteries-included" solution compared to FastAPI -- for example, Django comes with its own ORM for database interaction, whereas you'd have to build this layer out more yourself with FastAPI (using something like SQLAlchemy). This might be helpful to hit the ground running faster. FastAPI is one of the fastest 🐍 frameworks available currently, but it's 100% possible to build fast Django applications too.
I'd recommend diving into the quick start guides for each to see which style you prefer!
👋Hi, Everyone.
I love learning new skills.
What do you think about the future of Three.js?
Could it be booming library for AR&VR world?
Thank you.
Hello there! Much welcome to the community!
Nice to meet you Anita.

My recovery experience went smoothly without much complications. I was fully aware of how numerous people are being scammed by fake recovery experts so I ensure I did my personal researches and investigation on a recovery company I was referred to Michael crypto Recovery so as to ensure I don't get scammed as a result of getting a refund of my stolen Bitcoins.

I'm a French front-end web developer (one year's experience) and I was looking for a community of developers to connect with. I hope I've found it! :O
I'm currently looking for an open source project to contribute to, so I think my first posts will be about that!
I'm still trying to figure out what shape I'd like my career to take, so maybe you'll be a good help on that journey!

And I need a badass mentor to help me, aim me in the right direction, and sift me through the bullshit. This(your) influence will supercharge my already quick learning. Not to mention im interviewing for a coding buddy/friend. 😉🙃
I’m probably gonna be your best friend if not your most prestigious and acquaintance with whom you’ll be the most fond of out of all your life acquaintances.🎉🥳 Don’t be shy and let’s do this.
Hi everyone!
I'm a full-stack developer that's journeying into the world of agency/contracting work—I've been writing applications for several years now, and wanted to give a try at penning articles on various topics :)
I'm a fan of SvelteKit and Blazor as useful tools for bootstrapping new projects. I'd love to share some of my experiences using these for building out internal applications in large companies. Additionally, I'm looking to build SaaS products and custom software for clients under my agency brand using these tools.
There seems to be a dearth of articles on Blazor as opposed to Svelte/JS frameworks, so I may begin there :)
Since I'm doing this all on the side, I'm building out my work piece-by-piece. If you're interested, you can checkout my web design agency site (It's a WIP :P) or follow me at my dev.to profile to get notified on what I write about.
Happy to be here! :)
Hello folks,
I have built my first personal computer in the years '80s.
I'm basically an Electronic engineer but this brought me to be a programmer later.
I have developed firmware and software using several languages, starting from microcontrollers, up to the back-end intefaces and API, using several different DBs, mainly SQL-based.
I'm trying to approach Android developmente but I am at the very beginning stage.
I am here also to see if I can find somebody that can develop (or help me to develop) certain apps on the Android environment.
Hello everyone,
I am a fledgling that is currently learning front-end web development, with the hopes of one day becoming a full-stack engineer and making programming friends.
I hope to learn from and contribute to this community.
Good luck to you all with your endeavors!
Hi DEV.ERS. I super excited to be a part of this community. I am a building engineer with a great enthusiasm for Tech which made me sought for opportunities to achieve my goal.
I started out the journey to learn cloud computing in May, this year and I must say it hasn't been easy, since I didn't have a tech background.
I was able to obtain my AWS CCP certification last month, and I'm also working towards the AWS SAA as soon as possible.
I've been doing some little projects I can lay my hands on, I've also been learning Python and Linux essentials too.
I'm looking to connect with great minds, and learn a lot from this community.
Thanks.
Hi, I'm Nattie! 👋

A few others are my Pomodoro Timer, and Stopwatch Timer
If you have any feedback about my projects please share! I would love know what I can improve upon 😀
Currently I'm focusing on learning: SQL, Bash and DevOps.
Excited to join this excellent community and add my voice to it! Cheers! 🎉

Hello to all my fellow Dev enthusiasts!!!
I honestly don’t see how I hadn’t already came across this app before, and like a LONG TIME AGO as well, because a community of developers and development students is DEFINITELY my type of community, my kinda people, & something I don’t understand how I’ve missed all these previous years l….UNTIL NOW! My name’s Adonis but my friends call me Donny…as previously mentioned I am into all things DEV and I do mean ALL…I’m not quite at full stack dev status just yet cuz I’m not sure if I want to specialize in the LAMP or LEMP stacks…Linux, My/MariaSQL, PHP/Python are languages/distributions that I use regularly and am more than simply familiar or comfortable with using but my issue is that as much as I am aware of the Apache server/software reputation (it needs no introduction and has a reputation that precedes itself) but then these young gun upcomin future devs seem to swear by nginx and have been heard saying such ugly things about Apache is obsolete and no longer relevant let alone the top choice…hmmm decisions, decisions??!?!!
Welcome! Nice to have you here!

Hi - I'm Sheila
I'm not really a newbie, but still have lots to learn!
I use a lot of SQL and Argos to create reports off of a huge database.
