Ya gotta love a good cover song! For those who haven't heard the term, a cover song is when somebody remakes a song that...

This is one of my favourite Paranoid covers:

This freaking rocks hard! I'm digging it. 🤘
I really like the epic droning vocals and sludgey guitars. Such a cool take on the original! They even throw in the Iron Man riff!!
Side note: the album title "The Origin of the Feces" is freaking hilarious. That one brought out the child in me, haha!
Type O Negative is one of my favorite bands and Black Sabbath was one of the first bands I met in high school, so this cover is a passion's union. Also when I met the album "The Origin of Feces" with the original censored cover I was shocked and thought it was an amazing idea.
Ooooo, this gives me an idea! I'm gonna do a version of Music Monday for best album titles... maybe covers too. Might even have to bust that out next week!
This will be amazing! Always a pleasure to contribute with good ideas to the world!
On the note of Black Sabbath covers, I really love this one of "Changes" by Charles Bradley. Also, the story of why he chose to sing the song is just heartbreakingly beautiful... it puts the performance on a whole other level.
OMG! This is so beautiful! This is literally giving me chills, the voice, the guitar... it's just so beautiful🥺
Right!!?? It's incredible. I love it so much. 💚
And I'm glad you pointed out the guitar too, cause his voice is definitely freaking amazing and takes center stage, but the accompaniment with just one guitar makes it feel even more personal and impactful. With so few instruments, it really captures the passion in his voice and underlines the vulnerability of the message he is communicating.
Anywho, appreciate ya chiming in, I'm so glad you dig this one too!
The "Summer Breeze" cover they did in that classic dirge style is another classic track.
One of the funniest things i've ever seen is the After Dark DVD with the band commentary, they are absolutely fricking hilarious as a band, such a tragedy we lost Peter Steele.
Summer Breeze is another great one! I also have watched After Dark with the band commentary and loved every moment. Peter Steele was a giant genius.
motivational 🔥
Wow, this song is fire!
Classic! This song always gets me pumped.
How about this 🔥 version of "Use Me" by Esther Phillips?!
I like her version as well. Check out Bill Withers
Oh heck yeah! Good call out, Stefan. That's one of my all-time faves.
Hey my friend, how do you share the video to show the thumbnail?! I forgot how to do this :(
Great question, Renan!

Hope this helps! 🙌
I am absolutely in the right mood for this now and it's been in my head for days.
Stumbleine (great band) cover And Then He Kissed Me and it's kinda beautiful:
Wow, this is dope!
It's so dreamy. I'm curious if this would fall in the dream pop world? I got a friend who was describing the genre to me recently and I feel like this song would fit!
I'm not sure about genres. I guess that makes sense, though their regular stuff is more like crossing dream pop with shoegaze or something :)
Right on! That makes sense.
In fact, same friend who brought dream pop to me was describing his musical tastes and def mentioned shoegaze... I'm gonna have to ask him for some suggestions again so I can share'em with ya.
Brass Against has brought me a stream of joyful covers over the years. They released a new video of Tool's "Sober" recently, but I find myself regularly revisiting this arrangement/performance of Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song". The brass, the vocals, so good.
Thanks for this series btw, 87 parts?! 😮

Wow, great suggestion. This is badass!! 🔥
Never heard this group and I'm loving'em. Looks like got some listening to catch up on now, haha. 😀
Speaking of cool brass-heavy groups, you might enjoy MEUTE. They're essentially a marching band that plays techno and house music... and it's very visual thing as well!
And haha, we are indeed 87 posts deep now! As long as I'm here (and don't forget 😅) you can count on me to share a new one when Monday comes around.
Anywho, thanks for dropping in with this awesome recommendation and hope to see you here again! 🙌
Whoa nice! New to me but very cool mix of styles. Thanks for the bonus! 🍻
Because its a cover edition .. my recommedation
@michaeltharrington : I am hooked to the Synthwave/Electric Mixtape I | For Study/Relax to be honest
Dang!! I like these a lot.
That Rolling in the Deep cover is pretty damn epic.
And hahaha, I feel you on being hooked on the Synthwave. Note that The Midnight has been up to some cool stuff recently too. They're touring all over the place and even putting out a freaking graphic novel soon!
But outside of The Midnight, if you're looking for more synthwave/retrowave stuff, I recommend checking out Jonathan Belle's channel... he does these cool track reviews where he drives around LA and introduces new songs. It's a good way to find new stuff! Here's an example for ya...
Midnight i do listen but Syntwave for some reason works when I am stuck.. thanks for this recommendation ... Added to the list
Summertime by The Pianos of Cha'n is like music to my ears
Such a damn good tune, Jean-Michel. There are loads of wonderful covers of this one.
I'm curious what you think about "Doin' Time" by Sublime...
This guy is very interesting, he made a version of a song at the end of the year with the hottest songs of the year using a "different" way of putting them together and making just one:
Wooooaaa! So he kinda did a mashup of sorts?
The production on this is so damn good btw. Dude has got some crazy skill! What a boss.🙌
Right now I’m listening to poppy

Oooo alright, alright! Never heard of Poppy prior to this, but I'm digging it. Very original and what a wild blend of genres! Great suggestion, Marcel. 🙌
I know! Her stuff is very catchy. 🖤
No comment needed…
I love the story from Trent Reznor about how he was upset that Cash had covered this, but then he heard the song and was like, "Okay, it's his song now."
What a badass move to do this cover! Johnny Cash is one incredible dude with a career full of badass moves, haha.
its madhurashtakam for this week also,
do listen MADHURASHTAKAM by Mahalakshmi Iyer, recommending to everyone
Oh awesome! I think I found it here, Sakshi, please let me know if I got it right:
In any case, this is sounding absolutely beautiful to me. So chill and I'm loving the instrumentation!
yesss you found it! Glad that you liked it
If you like funk covers, then I recommend checking out the Scary Pockets channel on YouTube. They remake different pops songs from all sorts of genres and eras, but usually redo them in a modern funky style.
For instance, check out this version of "Kiss Me" featuring Moira Mack:
Or how about this Etta James/Lauryn Hill mashup:
There are so many of these with different singers and musician lineups! It's a gold mine.
I really like Peter Gabriel's cover of Heroes (originally by David Bowie)... it's so airy and ethereal. Peter Gabriel's voice is still so strong even in old age — it's very impressive!
This! I can't stop listening to the whole Cowboy Carter album but this cover is beautiful, like it was meant to be.
Wow, first time hearing this cover and I love it!
All the voices harmonizing together are so beautiful. And it still stays really true to the original with that fantastic guitar part and simple steady drum!
Way to freaking go, Beyoncé! Of course, she nailed it as she tends to do, haha.
She's amazing as always 😅😁
In my opinion the cover or tribute song shouldn't stray to far from the original artist.
I think I seesaw back and forth on that depending on the song and how I'm feeling. I love a good truthful cover, but I also love to hear someone take something in a totally different direction.
It's interesting because sometimes I'll fall in love with a song only to find out that it wasn't the original. Then I go to listen to the original and it doesn't hit the same for me... I'm biased because I already like the first version I heard. To me that is the original, haha!
And I'll give you an example... Aretha Franklin's "Respect"
Actually, was originally Otis Redding's tune:
I have a saying the remake or cover has to be original artist approved.
I like this cover of 99 Red Balloons :)
Love this tune and they most certainly did it justice! 🎈
This one came out today. Quite a positive surprise, and reaction too!
These comments keep getting better and better. @michaeltharrington we probably need a playlist for all of the (comments).
Haha right on, Saurabh! There really are some good ones in here. 🙌
Please feel free to make a playlist outta these if you wanna. I've tried to do so in the past, but just haven't been able to keep up with it so have dropped it. So yeah, I just end up scrolling around the comments!
🔥
This is cool! I like how lofi the recording feels and how it kinda opens up as the track goes on. Great energy!
