is this a team or a individual hackathon ?

Collapse

graciegregory profile image
Gracie Gregory (she/her)

You can participate with other people, but DEV only awards prizes to the individual who posts the submission. Any prize-splitting needs to be done on the side of the poster as per our rules. For everyone in your group to receive a DEV profile badge, you must include their DEV handles in your submission. Thanks for asking!

on this blog-post, there is a category Java Jackpot: Use Azure's Java services to build a new Java app, but on the hackathon's rule page here, under the judging criteria Judging Criteria, the category Java Jackpot isn't mentioned.

It would be helpful if someone could clarify whether Java Jackpot is a part of the judging criteria ?

Thank you in advance :)

Collapse

Gracie Gregory (she/her)

Hi! apologies for this confusion. We've updated the rules page to properly reflect that Java Jackpot is indeed an official category!

Ok, but it’s not mandatory to partecipate to the hackathon? Right?

I think a credit card is mandatory for Azure because you have limited credit, plus not all services are "free". Should one of these cases occur, the credit card will be charged. Normally, however, it should work out with the available credit.

What should be part of the repository? Must it contain scripts for everything that was setup in Azure or is it OK to set it up in Azure?
Are there any limitations on the used language that is used to access the Azure services?

Hello! As per the rules, the application must be created during the contest window. To give you an idea of how this comes into play, our judging team will be checking your repository to ensure the application's "newness". Hope that helps!

Is there any questions/problems we need to solve using the categories or should we build some solution on our own ?

Collapse

graciegregory profile image
Gracie Gregory (she/her)

As long as you follow the guidelines and rules above and your application seems relevant to the category you have chosen, you are free to interpret it! The submission template might provide some help as you think through what you're going to build.

Hi,
can you elaborate on the criteria for the evaluation of our contributions, please.
Is it maximum use of Azure services?
Is it a perfect architecture?
Is nice design?
Is it usefulness?
