What made you be a frontend or a backend developer?

Pato on September 30, 2019

I'm wondering what made you be a frontend developer or a backend developer? Write in the comments (1 to 2 sentences) 😁 See 👀, I'm actually full-s...

I'm a front-end dev and I totally love it. I fell in love with CSS especially when I started out with Bootstrap. Visuals appeal to me and I love simple, stylish, interactive interfaces. I love tweaking things on the UI and you'd find me jump to Chrome dev tools on any website just to see how this or that works or would work. lol. Vuejs makes things more interesting for me also.
Backend frustrates me and I get bored so easily! So it's frontend all the way! Want to learn Nodejs next year tho. 😁

I like to solve problems and not ones to do with the alignment of things on screen; so backend.

I am more full stack I started out in front end but after having to build a server I have become good at both, if I had to choose I would say fronted, because I like playing with UIs.

I like to use the JVM for backend, but I can use Node or .net if I must. For frontend, I love just vanilla android and flutter, but I have experience with asp.net and vue, also.

nice. How you like flutter? my friend works for the Flutter core team at Google. He keeps telling me that I should try it lol

Its pretty good, I like it because its cross platform and dart is similar to java, I can also code in native languages (java for android, swift for IOS). the one big downside in the lack of libraries and extensive documentation, but that should improve with time.

I am passionate about solving challenging problems and loved programming for that reason. started out learning C and Java in college but eventually had to learn JavaScript to build a website and instantly fell in love with how much of an art building UI is and ever since I have been doing a lot of Frontend work and occasional Backend (I like both but UI touches my heart)

I like seeing the fancy things that I coded upfront. So, yeah front-end, but no, I am not good at design and I don't design my work 😅

hahhah i feel you. Design is another level. People don't know how hard it is. You give me the design, I make it a reality lol

Neither. I spent decades doing system and server development, which would have squarely put me on team backend. The last several years, however, I've found myself writing JavaScript, and especially in React, putting me also on team frontend, and using GraphQL which happens on both the server and the client.

So in the modern parlance, I guess I'm full team fullstack.

But I also write scripts and tools for testing, deployment, and monitoring, so that also puts me in team DevOps.

I'm just a developer.

Currently I'm a front-end dev working on a small 3 man team. If I had to choose I'd do mainly full-stack but I'm where I am needed at the moment. I don't think I'd want to be constrained to just the front or the back. I like the freedom of designing API's one day in c# and designing dynamic front-ends in JavaScript the next

4.5 years ago someone asked me "do you know how to code?" I said yes and here we are.

Paso más tiempo en Backend. No tengo el tipo de creatividad para ser diseñador, pero sé suficiente javacript y css para no tener miedo al frontend.

Early this year I went to a DjangoGirls workshop and I loved it. So, backend :)
I tried frontend for like 2 months, but it's def not my thing 😅
