I've decided to start doing some pools checking the preference of devs over different stuff. I think it'll be fun to see what others think or do.

🦄 - Only remote for me since I got to know this at Canonical in 2011. Remote-first companies have always operated their entire infrastructure remotely. They are not just crutches as a result of Corona.
But the most important basic principle for me was not to solve tasks with employees who happened to be in one place. Rather, the best people for the individual products and projects were sought worldwide. This multicultural experience, together with the regular meetings in different places around the world, is an important enrichment of my people around the globe.
I agree, not limiting your talent pool by staying in the office or being hybrid is something that remote-first companies have advantage in. Of course it comes with a separate set of problems, but every choice has a price. In my opinion being remote is worth it.
Office with normalized WFH :)
🤯
I really like hybrid but with more possibilities for remote work
I'll start. Soo I've never worked in the office nor in a hybrid env. Always remote, so I can't really compare... but I don't think I would resign from remote mode that easily. How about u?
🦄 - Remote
Remote primarily, our company does have office days but we measure them in days per year. This year as we doing a lot of team training we’ll hit the most in office days in 3 years and that will be 8 by the time the year ends.
🤯 - I've been working hybrid for the last 9 months, after working remote for 3 years. It is by far my favourite way or working, because I tend to need a reason to leave the house. Working fully remote became quite difficult for me because of this, whereas having desigated office days means I can arrange my schedule to meet with people in person, and to catch up on admin knowing that this will be a slower work day with people talking to me. It has greatly benefited my mental health, and I find that I feel like I'm part of the team rather than just hidden away in my home office all week.
I think we'd fit into "hybrid", but we have 3 days where everyone's in the office and 2 "focus" days where you can come in, but most people will WFH to be able to work distraction free (and meetings are discouraged).
We are also generally flexible and trust our team to get shit done when best suits. I think this is the easiest/best model.
🦄
Hybrid, allowing flexible office and home days decided collaboratively with the team.
Hybrid 🙃
