Our data suggests that 43% of third-party ecosystem developers are creating applications and extensions for web browsers, making them the most targeted platform category.
If we only look at the world’s most popular web browser, Google’s Chrome, it has more than 2.6B global users and over 137K extensions.
The total addressable market alone is good cause to target web browsers, regardless of their functional versatility. Looking at the past two years of data, browser interest has seen a slight decrease among third-party developers, but larger shifts in interest are taking place in other types of platforms.
