Is web dev oversaturated?

Someone in forum asked

There are way too many web developers out there and it is very hard for someone to stand out or land a job in the field. Do you agree or not, and why? Is web development really oversaturated?

Well, he was answered by three people...

Well, it's not. Today's internet is incomplete without websites. These days Every business are going online by making website and apps. We can make apps for mobile phones but what about desktop? 🤔 and also it is not that convenient to download apps for every single use. With the website, we can do work and leave other things like it is.

Wait I am saying that the future of websites and developers is even big in upcoming years. A larger number of developers are getting hired every year with an average salary of around $72,000 in the US and around that in other countries.

I have found that the number of jobs market of web development will increase by 30% in next 5 years. so, we can say its not oversatured. Thanks <3

In my experience, I would say yes and no. 'Yes' because it's easy to find people that will apply for positions - they're a dime a dozen... but also 'No', as the number of candidates who I would actually consider hiring has been steadily falling for years.

So whilst there may be an awful lot of 'developers' around, there is a certainly a dwindling supply of good ones. Speaking as someone who has interviewed many, many candidates over the years, I think this is the actual reason people may be finding it hard to find work - employers are finding it increasingly difficult to find quality developers. To stand out they simply need to be a lot better than ones being rejected. In the previous company I worked at, we were having to lower our standards just so we could at least get some more development capacity - even if they weren't that good.

It would be No if the developer tried to become specific, like I will make a chatroom for you, or I can develop app landing page, or a portal or similar.

I mean, like if you be niche specific then the web dev isn't oversaturated.

Maybe, but the amount of quality developers is very low.
