Nevertheless, Charlie Gerard Coded

I began coding because...

I realised I was more interested in what my dev team was doing than my own job (I was a digital producer at the time). I've always been interested in technology but never thought I could be a developer, and one day, I decided to quit my job and give it a try so I joined a coding bootcamp called General Assembly. It's definitely been one of the best decisions of my life.

I'm currently hacking on...

the Emotiv Epoc brain sensor and Node.js. I love tinkering and experimenting with hardware so I've started writing a framework to interact with a brain sensor in JavaScript. It's still not 100% working but I've learnt a lot!

I'm excited about...

too many things! :D There is so much to learn, I don't even know where to start! At the moment, I'm trying to focus on learning some basics of VR, AR and machine learning.

My advice for other women who code is...

to build a network of great people around you, who will help you grow and with who you can share your experiences (good and bad). If you feel like you have people around you to support you, it is way easier to do things out of your comfort zone like running a workshop, writing blog posts, etc... and these things are so valuable! :)

I love the advice you give. The network of great people around you is such an important part of a career in any domain.
