We’re excited to announce Backbone — our project to build the digital equivalent of a bank vault for organizations’ sensitive data.
In a world where data breaches are rampant and surveillance is commonplace, organizations today store their sensitive data using general-purpose software that was not designed to provide the necessary protections. This is typically followed up by deploying complex, expensive solutions to address their neglect of privacy and security.
What does the platform do?
Backbone is designed to provide maximalist security properties with minimal friction.
Powered by innovations in cryptographically assured access controls, tamper-evident technology and a trust model that you fully control, our end-to-end encrypted data platform keeps your data safe even if Backbone itself is compromised.
On this foundation, we're launching our first two products:
Backbone Secrets is the user-facing command center for your organization's sensitive data. With Secrets, you can securely store, access and share files, passwords and other resources - with granular cryptographic assurance of who can and cannot access your data.
Backbone SDK allows any developer to safeguard data that resides in untrusted or semi-trusted systems and networks outside Backbone and seamlessly integrates with Secrets to power end-user workflows with unparalleled security.
