How to use the QuickBooks File Doctor Tool?

Step 1: Download and install QuickBooks Tools Hub
The QuickBooks Tool Hub will help you correct standard errors. For the best user experience, it is recommended that you use Tool Hub on Windows 10, 64-bit.

  1. Closeout of your QuickBooks.
  2. It is recommended that you download the most recent version of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. You should have saved the system file where you can find it easily.

Note: If you've already installed Tool Hub onto your system, it is easy to figure out your current version. Select the Home tab. The version will then be advertised on the bottom right of the screen or you can choose About to view the present version.

  1. Open up your downloaded file. (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  2. Follow all on-screen instructions to initiate the install and press Agree on the Terms and Conditions tab.
  3. When the install concludes, double-click on the Windows icon on your Windows desktop to open up the tool hub.

Step 2: Run the QB File Doctor

  1. From inside the Tools hub, choose the Company File Issues tab.
  2. Select the Run QuickBooks File Doctor option.
  3. Inside the tool, please choose the company file from inside the drop-down menu. If you cannot see the file, please select the Browse and search option to locate your file.
  4. Select the Check your file (middle option only) option and then on Continue.
  5. Key in your Administrator Credentials and choose the Next option.
  6. The total scan time will be dependent on your inherent file size. In most cases, this will be around 5 minutes.
  7. Once the scan concludes, open up your QuickBooks and the company file.

Step 3: Update and back up your QuickBooks

  1. After fixing your company file, kindly back it up.
  2. You should also check for any available software updates.
  3. In your QuickBooks Desktop, move over to the Help menu and select the Update QuickBooks Desktop option.
  4. Run these updates repeatedly and ratify and reconstruct data to help you overcome errors.
