I find it sad that React isn't 100% in on the custom elements everywhere boat. If you checkout custom-elements-everywhere.com/ there are still some failing tests.
I do think that custom elements has a bright future though, and with a bit more advanced features in ES20XX have more self contained no dependency apps so we get rid of stupid cases like 'leftpad'
