As someone like yourself who has tried many note taking apps. I still struggle with an effective system for all. Instead I started using different systems for different notes.
For example, any blog posts go into my ideas.md file on my laptop, if I'm not on my laptop, they go into Google keep and get moved to my laptop when possible. For Todo lists and tasks with a set end or resolution I put them on a whiteboard I have up.
What I'm getting at here, is I don't think there's a simple solution to taking better notes, one note taking app will not make you take better notes. Just by using Evernote or another advanced note taking app, your quality of notes won't increase over night that still lies with you...
