Just a couple notes:
Add a case study or two. It's nice to have one or two projects you can into more greater detail.
The hover change to the project isnt ideal for mobile. If i scroll down then back up, if i put my finger over the project, the overlay dissapears. Might consider revisiting that.
Other than that, looks good to me. In my experience, as long as it looks decent and is easy to navigate for the hiring manager, its good.
I agree with your point on the hover transition, I have been going back and forth about that in my head for a while. Might switch that to a click handler, or even a button. I'll have to play around with that and see what works.
I hadn't thought about adding case studies. I'll definitely consider adding a couple of those.
