I struggled so bad to get this to work (using Angular 8).
I even ended up deleting my Angular Project and starting over - afresh, which broke my heart, and still no luck.
ng serve was displaying content but not via http-server, then I realized http-server was the problem.
Got rid of it and used http-server-spa instead, from here developer.okta.com/blog/2019/01/30...
works like a charm now!!!! Thanks
