I consciously moved to specialise in an area but found it frustrating. No idea what the other guys were up to. There became an unnecessary hierarchy. It wasn't fun. Perhaps a cultural thing, but no one was open to changing the dynamic.
I moved back to full-stack at a different company and we were in it together. We all worked on different projects but could help each other out. We taught and learned from each other.
I then moved back to a specialised role, but one that requires very good knowledge of the whole stack and each part of it technically has a stack of it's own. It's been a good compromise for me.
